Loretta Eva Loehr, 89, of rural Mount Calvary, died Wednesday, May 3, 1995, at Americana Nursing Home, following a short illness.
She was born on July 29, 1965, in Mount Calvary, a daughter of Nicholas and Louise Steffes Schmitz. On Sept. 6, 1927, she married Raymond Loehr at Mount Calvary.
She attended Holy Cross Catholic Grade School and played piano for the famous Schmitz Sisters Orchestra of Mount Calvary that performed throughout the Midwest.
Following her marriage, she and her husband farmed on the Loehr homestead in rural Mount Calvary. Mrs. Loehr was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary and its Christian Mothers Society, and the Third Order of St. Francis.
Survivors include one son, Walter and his wife Marian of Mount Calvary; one daughter-in- law, Marilyn Loehr of rural Mount Calvary; four grandchildren, Viola, Janet, Jay and John; four great-grandchildren, Danielle, Tom, Jessica and Nicole; three sisters, Marcella Ehlenebech and her husband Russell of Kiel, Viola Schmitz of New York, and Mildred Bartash and her husband Al of New Holstein; and one brother, Walter Schmitz of -Fond du Lac.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1963; one son, Eugene; three grandchildren; five sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Huss Funeral Home in St. Cloud and at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. The Rev. Peter Kutch will officiate. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Visitation- is at the funeral home from 4.to 9 p.m. Sunday.
