Miss Ermine Mary Schmitz, 66, of Mount Calvary, pianist with the Schmitz Sisters Orchestra, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 17, 1961, at St. Agnes Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 14, 1914, at Mount Calvary, the daughter of the late Nick and Louise Steffes Schmitz. She attended Holy Cross Parochial School at Mount Calvary and St. Mary's Springs High School.
The orchestra traveled through the Eastern and Central part of the United States. Miss Schmitz was a member of Holy Cross Church, Mount Calvary.
Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Loretta Loehr of Route 1, Mount Calvary, Mrs. Russell (Sally) Ehlenbeck of Shorewood, Miss Lydia Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Miss Viola Schmitz of New York City and Mrs. Al (Mildred) Bartash of New Holstein; and a brother, Walter of Mount Calvary. Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Huss Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Mount Calvary. The Rev. Rupert Dorn will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends of Miss Schmitz may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
