Body of J.F. Andre, Former Bentonian, To Be Brought to Vinton
Vinton News
The body of J.F. Andre, father of Mrs. Murl D. Fry of Vinton, is expected to arrive in Vinton Saturday morning. From here it will be taken to Inland cemetery near Davenport by motor hearse for burial. Funeral services for Mr. Andre, who died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday following a short illness, were held at Benton Harbor, Mich., where he passed away.
The deceased was born June 26, 1861, at Big Rock, Ia. [Ohio], a son of J.L. and Mary Tabor [Taylor] Andre. In 1883 he married Emma Agnew who died July 27, 1936. He later married Addie Howard who survives him. Also surviving is Glenn Jones of Sioux City who was raised in the Andre home, one grandson, J. Harold Andre of Davenport, and two sisters, Mrs. Emaline Parker of Davenport and Mrs. E.A. Landstrum of New Sharon. One son, Jesse H. Andre, died in 1937.
Mr. Andre came to Benton county in 1897 and farmed in Eden township until 1924 when he went to Davenport, making his home there until 1937. He had since lived at Benton Harbor, Mich. The deceased was a member of St. John's Methodist church at Davenport. (Cedar Valley Daily Times, Vinton, IA, November 2, 1939)

James F. Andre, 77, died last evening at 11:45 at his residence, 638 Broadway. He was a retired farmer and had been a resident of Benton Harbor for two years.
Mr. Andre was born June 26, 1862, [per gravestone, 1861] in Iowa. He was married to Mrs. Addie Howard on October 28, 1937, in Benton Harbor.
Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs. M.D. Fry, of Vinton, Ia.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. George Peapples of Benton Harbor; one adopted son, Glenn H. Jones, of Sioux City, Ia., and two sisters.
He was a member of St. John's Methodist church of Davenport,Ia.

Funeral services were held at the Reiser chapel Friday afternoon for the late James F. Andre, who died Tuesday night at his home, 638 Broadway.
The Rev. George H. Wilson, pastor of the First Christian church, officiated. Warren Colby presided at the organ and played "In The Garden," and "The Old Rugged Cross."
After the services here, the remains were taken to Vinton, Ia., [Bennet, Ia] for interment. (News-Palladium, Benton Harbor, MI, November 3, 1939)
