Funeral services for Mrs. Murl D. (Ethel M.) Fry, 66, who died Friday at Virginia Gay hospital of cancer, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church. The Rev. Edgar E. Walker Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
It has been requested that friends not give flowers, but contribute to the Methodist Church Memorial fund instead.
Mrs. Fry was born March 7, 1890, near Bennett in Cedar county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Andre. She came to a farm in the Vinton area with her parents at the age of seven. She attended rural schools, Vinton high school and Cornell college. On Jan. 1, 1914 she married Murl D. Fry. They lived on a farm near Vinton until Mr. Fry's death in 1950. They had no children.
Active in many church and community projects, Mrs. Fry was the first home-projects chairman for the Farm Bureau women and helped organize the first 4-H club in Benton county, the Eden Willing Workers.
She was a member of the board of trustees, WSCS, Altar Guld and Home Builder's class of the Methodist church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star lodge.
One brother, Jesse H. Andre, preceded Mrs. Fry in death.
