Donabelle was born September 22, 1920 in Antelope Flats (near Swan Valley), Idaho, to Ernest William Harrop and Chloy Walker Harrop. She grew up in Annis and attended Annis Elementary School and graduated from Midway High School in Menan with high honors. She also attended Ex-Cel-Sis Beauty College and Idaho State University.
On July 27, 1940, she married Raymond Nelson in Annis, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
A homemaker and mother, Donabelle worked as a hairdresser and bookkeeper until age 79. She spent most of her life in Idaho Falls and moved to Nephi, Utah, to live with her daughter in January, 2012. Raymond passed away February 24, 1991.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in every auxiliary position.
When her children were young she served as PTA President at Dora Erickson Elementary School and later as District PTA President in School District #91. She volunteered as a ‘Grandma Reader' at Dora Erickson Elementary School. Donabelle loved sewing, crocheting, reading, camping, fishing, gardening, baking, and enjoying her posterity.
Donabelle is survived by her son, Theron R. (Lynn) Nelson, of Ammon; daughters: Irene (Carl) Atamanczyk, of Idaho Falls, Ronda (Jerry) Elliott, of Pingree, and Darla (Paul) Jensen, of Nephi, UT; brother, Lovell Harrop, of Ammon; 16 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters: Beulah Mobley, Helen Bohne and Lola Harrop; and one brother, Garth Harrop.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS 14th Ward, 651 Gladstone, with Bishop Dean Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery.
