North Carrollton, MS: Mrs. Mayfred Arrington Shackelford, 89, passed away Thursday September 20, 2012 at her home in North Carrollton, MS. Graveside services are 3 P.M. today, Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. Michael Evans will officiate.
A longtime resident of North Carrollton, Mrs. Shackelford was a member of the North Carrollton United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Carroll County Garden Club and Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Shackelford had worked for the Peoples Bank & Trust Company for sixty years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allan Shackelford and a grandson, James Allan Shackelford, II.
She is survived by two sons, George John Shackelford and William Pate Shackelford both of Carrollton, MS, two daughters, Virginia Walcott of Jackson, MS, and Jamie Bledsoe of Shellmound, MS, a sister, Mary Alice Grafton of Memphis, TN, eight grandchildren, May Trezevant, Julia Harris, Arrington Magny, Gini Allbritton, Allan Bledsoe, Winn Walcott, Pate Shackelford, James Shackelford, and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Taylor Trezevant, Olivier Magny, Hayes Harris, Scotty Allbritton, and her grandsons, Allan Bledsoe, Winn Wallcott, James Shackelford and Pate Shackelford.
The family requests that memorials be made to the North Carrollton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 21, North Carrollton, MS 38947, or to a charity of your choice.
