Mayhew Benjamen Arrington was elected sheriff of Carroll County, Mississippi January 1, 1932. He served until he died on November 15, 1933. His wife, Maude Pate Arrington, was appointed by Governor Martin Sennett "Mike" Conner (32-36) to serve out his term. John Tom Allen, his deputy, served as sheriff for her.

CARROLL COUNTY SHERIFF SUDDENLY TAKEN BY DEATH

M. B. Arrington Succumbs at Carrollton Home: Funeral Services Thursday

CARROLLTON, Nov. 17. M. B. Arrington, sheriff of Carroll County, died suddenly at his home in Carrollton, Wednesday morning about 5:30 o'clock. On awakening his wife found him unconscious. She called neighbors and a physician but Mr. Arrington died before the physician arrived.

Sheriff Arrington came to Carrollton some twenty years ago from Coffeeville and established a home here, engaging in the leather business. He actively identified himself with business and political affairs of the county and at the last election was chosen sheriff of the county over several opponents. He had made a splendid record as sheriff. He is survived by his wife and nine children. Brief Funeral services were held at Carrollton Thursday morning after which the body was carried to Coffeeville for its final resting place.
