Mrs. Belle Ray Lucas, 87, of Rt. 4, Carrollton, widow of Jesse J. Lucas, died last Friday morning in Carroll County hospital of injuries received when she fell and fractured her hip Sept. 23. Born June 18, 1873, in Carroll County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Rebecca McDole Ray. Mrs. Lucas was a life resident of this county. She was a member of Carrollton Evangelical and Reformed Church. Mrs. Lucas was married Oct. 29, 1892. her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1922. A daughter, Mrs. Elva McLean, died a week before, Oct. 14.
Surviving are seven sons, Oscar and Lorain of Rt. 1, Frank of Rt. 4, Howard of Carrollton, Elmer of Rt. 2, Jesse and Walter, both at home; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Wood of Rt. 1, Carrollton; 35 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Services are Sunday in the Allmon Funeral Home here with the Rev. Lawrence T. Holmer officiating. Burial was in Grandview cemetery, Carrollton.
