Mrs. Lela Mae Alford Smith, 54, wife of G.E. Smith, of Dexter, Mo., and formerly of Blytheville, died Sunday [September 3] in Dexter Memorial Hospital.

Born in Blytheville, she had lived most of her life in Blytheville. She was a Baptist.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, James A. Smith, San Antonio, Tex., and Bob J. Smith, Greensburg, Pa.; her mother, Mrs. Annie Alford, Blytheville; six brothers, Pat Alford, Detroit, Mich., Harold and Frank Alford, West Memphis, Jimmy and Burley Alford, Sikeston, and James Alford, Duncan, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Richardson, Blytheville, Mrs. Ophelia Eagan, West Memphis, Mrs. Olamae Petty, Brentwood, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, in Watkins Funeral Home chapel, Dexter, Rev. O.H. Brooks officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Blytheville's Dogwood Cemetery by Cobb Funeral Home.
