Blytheville, Mississippi Co., AR—Saturday, 29 September 1956

 

           J.A. Alford, 63, a native and resident of Blytheville for many years, died last night in a Sikeston, Mo., hospital.

           Born in Blytheville, Mr. Alford made his home here until a month ago when he and his wife moved to Sikeston to make their home with a son.

           Services are scheduled for 10 .m. Monday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. L.G. Scott and the Rev. Harold Ray.

           Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

           He is survived by his wife; six sons, Burley and Harold Alford of Sikeston, Pat and Jimmy Alford of Detroit, and James and Frank Alford of Blytheville; four daughters Mrs. G.E. Smith of Dexter, Mo., Mrs. Mack Eagan Jr., and Mrs. Charles Richardson of Blytheville and Miss Ola May Alford of Memphis; two sisters Mrs. Katie Garner and Mrs. Buster Richardson of Blytheville; and 14 grandchildren.

           Pallbearers will be Floyd Smith, Jake Langley, Richard Haynes, Niney Persfell, Charles Eagan, Earnest Walker.
