Marcella (Rohr) Ruder passed away on September 2, 2012 in Amarillo, Texas. Marcella was born on August 16, 1919, on the family farm west of Munjor, Kansas to John Peter Rohr and Anna Maria (Riedel) Rohr. She married Marcellus Ruder on October 2, 1939 and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2010. Together they resided in Hays and Plainville, Kansas, Pine Bluffs Wyoming, and Pecos, Texas. Marcella worked at the Rooks County Health Center (Plainville Rural Hospital), and the Sacred Heart Grade School while in Plainville. She also worked at the Reeves County Hospital, and was an Assistant Manager for a western Clothing store in Pecos, Texas. In 1981, they returned to Hays for their retirement.

She spent her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (GiGi), and showered her family and friends with quiet love. She worked tirelessly in support of her family, and as a devoted volunteer to church, schools and community. She was a true child of God and will be remembered as a kind, caring and humble person, who cared deeply for everyone. No one was a stranger to her, and she touched the hearts of so many. Her "dry, Rohr humor" will be missed. She was a member of the St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella, both of Hays.

She is survived by four children: Larry Ruder and his wife Virginia, of Overland Park, Kansas; Terry Ruder and his wife Bonnie, of Stilwell, Kansas; Ann Ruder, of Hays; Ellen Pool and her husband David, of Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; brothers Alex Rohr of Trumbell, Connecticut, and Julie Rohr of Hays. She was preceded in death by her husband Marcellus, sisters Albina Befort and Mary Bernita Engel, and brothers Isidore Rohr, Ignatius Rohr and Eugene Rohr.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays. There will be a Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 6:00 p.m. followed by a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the Marcella and Marcellus Ruder Memorial Fund at Sacred Heart School in Plainville, Kansas, or in her name and memory to St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church; Condolences to the family at www.haysmemorial.com
