She was a graduate of Girls Catholic High School. A Hays resident, she worked for many years with her husband in his stock brokerage firm. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, a member and past president of the Christian Mothers and St. Joseph Altar Society, she was a Eucharistic minister at the church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the VFW Auxiliary, the Women's Golf Association at Smoky Hill Country Club, and she was a gray lady at St. Anthony Hospital, all at Hays.
On Aug. 25, 1949 she married Ralph N. Engel at Hays. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Keith of Wichita, Charles of Topeka; a daughter, Maryann Schmidt of Chesapeake, Va.; five brothers, Alexander Rohr of La Mesa, Calif., Isadore Rohr of Garfield, Ignatius Rohr of Overland Park, Eugene Rohr and Julius Rohr, both of Hays; two sisters, Albina Befort, Munjor, and Marcella Ruder, Hays; six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Julia Engel.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church, Hays, with Fathers Mike Scully, Michael Suchnicki, and Paulinus Karlin presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays. Brock's North Hill Chapel [funeral service detail omitted].
