Swen was the son of Ole Holte and Bergit(Stake)Holte. He was born on the family farm south of Temple, Williams Co, ND.
Swen worked on the family farm until 1930. He then moved to Montana. He served in the US Army in the Asiatic-Pacific area and was discharged in 1945.
Upon his return from the service, he worked with his "Big Uncle Swen" on the Ruby Gulch Mine in Zortman. He also operated farm equipment and combines and worked for many farmers in the area.
He married Myrtle Mikkelson-Kirwan in 1953.They had one daughter, Valerie.
