My grandfather migrated from Aal, Hallingdahl, Norway and came to America in 1903 on the vessel SS Norge. He homestead on land in Williams Co, Ray, N.D. In 1904, my grandmother, Bergit (Birgit) and his daughter, Borghild came to America to join him.

OLE S HOLTE OBITUARY
As announced in the last issue of the Tioga Gazette, Ole S. Holte passed away Jan 24 at 3 p.m.About two weeks before his death, neighbors and friends were saddened to learn that he had been taken suddenly ill, hemorrhages being the cause.Dr. Scott of Ray was called and everything possible was done for him but to no avail, his mission on Earth was done.

Ole S. Holte was born July 14 1881 in Hallingdahl, Norway. He was married April 14 1908 to Miss Bergit Stake. He came to America in August the same year and his wife remained with her parents for a year. He came first to an uncle in Sherwood, N.D.

In 1904 he homestead near Temple, his wife joined him as soon as he was settled, the homestead had been their home ever since. Mr Holte leaves to morn his early departure his wife and six children, Borghild(Mrs Olai Knudson), Ole, Svein, Nels, Carl and Anfin. Two brothers and one sister in Norway and two brothers near McGregor.

In the death of Mr. Holte, the community lost a man whose place will be hard to fill , one who was a credit to any community, for a number of years and up to the time of his death he held positions of trust in his township.
The day of the funeral , Jan 27, was cold and stormy, nevertheless, a large number of friends had gathered to show their honor and respect to the departed and sympathy to the bereaved. The Tioga Male Quartette sang "Nearer, My God, To Thee and a mixed quartette sang "Sometime We'll Understand. The floral offerings were many and most beautiful. The Temple Ladies Aid gave $10.00 to the Home Missions as a wreath on the bier,
The remains were laid to rest in the Temple Cemetery, Rev. A.T.Moen officiated. The pall bearers were Mr. Swenson, Bernt and Amund Foss, A.Harstad, Hans Holte and Thorvald Peterson.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr & Mrs. Larson from Ray, the Langaker brothers from Epping, Mr. Hans Holte,McGregor, and Mr & Mrs. Dybing from Wild Rose.
