Greg M. Aasen, 46, Lombard. Ill., formerly of Iola, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1996, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Illinois. He was born Dec. 4, 1949, in Iola, the son of Cordella "Toby" (Schmidt) and the late Milton Aasen. On Oct. 9, 1994, he married Marianna Bruce. She survives. He was baptized on Jan. 8, 1950, at the Hitterdahl Lutheran Church, Iola, and confirmed April 7, 1963, at Northlake Lutheran Church. He was active in ski jumping in his youth as a member of USSA. He attended Blackhawk Junior High School and graduated from Fenton High School, Bensonville, Ill, in 1968. An area general foreman for Meade Electric, Westmont, Ill, he was a member of Local No. 701 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Lisle, Ill. He also was a member of the Midwestern Council Racing Association and had been very active in closed track road racing, including formula racing. He had lived in Glen Ellyn, Villa Park, and Winfield, Ill. Survivors include his wife, Marianna; his mother: Cordella "Toby" Aasen, Iola; three daughters: Michelle Charles) Wyatt, Glen Ellyn, Ill., Megan (Mark) Beske, Ogdensburg, and Monica Aasen, Lombard, Ill.; one stepdaughter: Patricia Artos, Lombard, Ill.; one stepson: Gerald Artos, Lombard, Ill.; and two brothers: Terry (Liz) Aasen, Glen Ellyn, Ill. and Donald (Chris) Aasen, Iola. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton I. Aasen. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church, Iola, with Rev. James Ilten, Lombard, Ill. and Rev. Daniel Somers officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Voie Funeral Home, Iola, was in charge of arrangements.
