Before September 1854, Wright III and his brother Thomas D. Farnsworth moved to Ontario, Canada when they applied for land at Elma, Wellington District (now Perth County). They both sold soon after that and in August 1855, Wright purchased 6 acres of land at Beachville, Canada West (now Oxford County, Ontario). There he laid out 12 lots and established "Wrightsville," a new town. The town did not "take," however and Wright sold his last property there about 1858. From there, he and Susan apparently went to Palmyra, Wayne County, NY where they are next found in the 1860 census. By 1870, the family was living in Marion next to his son-in-law Thomas Farnsworth, son of Samuel, who had married Wright's daughter Susan in Nov 1860.
Wright and Susan moved to Sanilac County, MI about 1872, perhaps at the same time as John W. Farnsworth. There Susan died on 15 Jan 1875. Wright next married Lois Soper, the widow of Joseph Tate on 15 Feb 1876. When she died is not known, but they last sold land together in Nov 1884. On 4 Feb 1886 in Rochester, Monroe County, NY Wright was again married to Mary Jane Lovell. He said he was 55, from Witmore (Whittemore) MI and listed Sarah Dawson as a parent. What became of Mary Jane is unknown. Finally Wright married widow Margaret (Farrier) Flynn on 19 Mar 1887 in Argyle Township, Sanilac County, MI. He was then living in Logan Township, Ogemaw County, MI. His son Thomas was living in Logan Township at the time and Wright was probably living with him.
Wright's death certificate says he was widowed at the time of his death on 17 Apr 1899. In fact Margaret did not die until 1905. His obituary published in the Deckerville Recorder reads:
"Wright Farnsworth died Monday, the 17th, has been a resident of this county for about 30 years. For the past three years he has been a great sufferer; two years ago he had a hand amputated to remove a cancer. For the past three months he has suffered from gangrene of the foot, which with his age caused his death. Age 78 years. The funeral was conducted by the Reverend Andrews at the Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon."
