William Suverly was born the son of Sherman S. and Eleanor (Clark) Suverly on Thursday, December 5, 1912 in Fort Rice, North Dakota.

He grew up and attended school in Livona and Fort Rice, and on October 31, 1939, enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He also served as an Honor Guard at President Franklin Roosevelt's funeral. Following his honorable discharge on August 31, 1945, he lived in Spokane, Washington and worked for Keizer Aluminum. Later he moved to Portland and worked for American Can as a heister driver and then for a metal company, where he sorted metals for several years, until retiring and coming to Newberg in the early 1980s. He enjoyed playing solitaire, walking, reading, and western music.

On Friday, March 8, 1991, William Suverly died at Newberg Community Hospital when he was 78 years, 3 months, and 3 days of age.

Surviving and left to honor his life are his aunt, Gladys Clark of Bismarck, ND; 1 brother, Earl Suverly of Hebron, ND; several nieces and nephews including Zane Suverly of Pendleton, OR, Ray Suverly of Dundee, OR, Richard Wuertz of Pasco, WA, Harold Schultz of Pendleton, OR, Lois Doyle and Iris Perrigo of Gresham, OR, Joe Fogarty and Ruth Snyder of Newberg, OR, Ralph Suverly Willamina, OR, Virginia Aschmeller of Dundee, OR, Jackie Williams of The Dalles, OR, Lenora Pederson of Garrison, ND, Don Schultz of Juneau, AK, Judy Stein of Minot, ND, Lorraine Chyles of Mandan, ND, Violet Clooten of Bismarck, ND, Clarence Burtts of Wichita, KS, Harriet Schantz of Yakima, WA, Charles Burtts of Washburn, ND, William Burtts of Livona, ND, Arlene Auch of Orangevale, CA, Jean Knowlen of Rapid City, SD, and Judy Bailey of Mandan, ND, and those who have come to know and appreciate him where he has lived and worked.
