Life Everlasting

They that love beyond the world can not be separated by it. Death can not kill what never dies. Death is but crossing the world as loved ones do the seas; they live in one another still. * * * *
This is thee comfort of everyone: That tho' they may be said to die, yet their love and devotion are, in the best sense, ever present because immortal. * * * *

~~ William Penn

Passed on, beyond our mortal vision,
But now the thought is robbed of gloom,
Within the Father's many mansions
Still dwelling in another room.

The one whose going left us lonely
Is scaling heights undreamed of yore,
And guided on by Love's unfolding,
Has gone upstairs, and shut the door.

May the souls of the
faithful departed . . . .
Through the mercy of God
rest in peace . . . .

In my Father's house are many mansions;
if it were not so, I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you. And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again
and receive you unto myself.

Abide With Me

Abide with Me! Fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens: Lord, with me abide!
When other helpers fail, and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me!

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou, who changest not, abide with me!

I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless:
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is Death's sting? Where, Grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes:
Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies:
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
In life and death, O Lord, abide with me!

~~ Henry Francis Lyte

The Twenty-Third Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside thee still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in
the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; thy rod and
thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the
presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow
me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
