CHURCH HILL- Charles T. Lawson, 89, passed away on Wednesday (August 8, 2012) at Holston Valley Medical Center.

He had lived most of his life in Church Hill and was a member of Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Lawson proudly served his country in the Unites States Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Volura Lawson, daughter, Oleda Lawson, brothers, M.B., Guy, and J.C. Lawson, and sister, Sara Lawson.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie Ruth Sizemore Lawson, four daughters; Velma Morgan and her husband, Harry, Melissa Smith and her husband, James, Katherine Jeter, and Gilda Ward, brother, James D. Lawson, sisters; Irene Price, Dorothy Seals, and Sally Herron, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill and anytime at the homes of his four daughters.

Funeral Services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Friday at Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Fred Gilreath and Rev. Frank Gilliam officiating.

Graveside services with Military honors conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will be conducted following the service at Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Russell Jeter, Craig Morgan, Kelvin Houston, Jamie Smith, Brandon Vaughan, Pete Bowen, and Matt Booker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church cemetery fund.
