WHITE PINE -- J.C. Lawson, age 74, White Pine, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Heritage Center, Morristown, following an extended illness.

He was a lifetime member of Compromise Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Riggs Lawson; parents, Joe and Volura Mae Lawson; grandsons, Rodney Lawson and Charles David "Bear" Lawson; a brothers, M.B. Lawson; and a sister, Sarah Winstead.

He is survived by ten children, J.C. Lawson Jr., Nashville, Charles Lawson, Bulls Gap, Darlene Stallings, Arcadia, FL, Rodney Lawson, Auburndale, FL, Timothy Earl Lawson, Polk City, FL, Kimberly Lawson, White Pine, Ralph Riggs, St. Cloud, FL, Cheryl Watwood, Auburndale, FL, Charlie Riggs, St. Cloud, and Denna Mast, St. Cloud; daughters-in-law, Mary Lawson, Shelly Lawson and Judy Lawson; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles T. Lawson, Church Hill, and James D. "Bud" Lawson, Morristown; three sisters, Dorothy Seals, Morristown, Irene Price, Church Hill and Sally Herron, Morristown; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 1 - 2 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2001, at Compromise Baptist Church with funeral services following at the church with Revs. J.C. Lawson and Milburn Trent officiating. Internment will follow in the Family Cemetery on Gravely Valley Road.
