Of Uniontown Stricken With Intestinal
Obstruction and Dies
MASONTOWN, Apr 6— Josiah Baer, aged 77, took suddenly ill Saturday morning and died Sunday morning at 11 o'clock of obstruction of the intestines.
Deceased who was born at Masontown, December 7, 1830, was the son of Lewis and Mary Baer. He was the eldest of eight children, five of whom are still living. They are: John Baer of Smithfield, Rebecca Turner of Oregon City, Mary Riffle of High House, Justice B. Baer of Masontown, and Lewis Baer of Dunbar.
The two deceased are Margaret Rockwell and Nicholas Baer.
Mr. Baer spent most of his childhood at Masontown and resided on Captain S. S. Brown's farm a number of years. November 18, 18.. he married Barbara Johnson, daughter of Nicholas and Mattie Johnson. She died June .., 1870. Five children, David I., of Masontown, John H. and Jacob A. of Uniontown, James of Brownsville and Mrs. … Cuppett of Uniontown were born to this union. On April …, 18.., he married Bertha Edingfield who with two children, William T., at home and Mrs. Mary Dearth Brashear of Uniontown, survive him.
Mr. Baer lived on the Berkley road for years. He was a member of the Mennonite church in Masontown for many years and was a most earnest worker in His Master's cause.
The funeral service will be held at his residence Tuesday afternoon at 1:30, in charge of Rev. Dr. J. B. Gold. Interment in Sandy Hill cemetery.
