Alda Pauline (Brocious) Shick, 98, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center in Punxsutawney.

She was born May 24, 1914, in Ringgold Township, a daughter of the late Osmer and Twila (Dinger) Brocious.

She was married to Preston Shick, who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2002.

Mrs. Shick was a member of the Timblin United Methodist Church in Timblin and was very active as a Sunday School teacher.

She sang in the church choir and was a trustee and worked in the Methodist Women's Organization.

She enjoyed working with ceramics and planting flowers.

She worked at the Rola-Jensen Plant in Punxsutawney for 10 years.

Surviving relatives include a brother, Donald Brocious of Johnstown; three sisters, Mrs. Bill (Ruby) Smith and Mrs. Don (Marge) Wolfgang, both of Erie, and Lois Stello of Coropolis; and a cousin, Betty Mottern of Ringgold.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William Lee Shick, on March 6, 1969; two brothers, Eugene Brocious and Elwood Brocious; and four sisters, Dorothy Manley, Helen Huffman, Peggy Yohe and Velma Huber.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Nancy Lightcap officiating.

Interment will follow at the Timblin Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorials in memory of Mrs. Shick be made to the Timblin United Methodist Church in Timblin.
