Leona Jeansonne, age 72, of Simmesport passed away June 23, 2005 in the Bayou Chateau Nursing Home in Simmesport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Joseph Rabalais; four brothers, Ferdie Paul Jeansonne, John B. Jeansonne, Charles Jeansonne Sr. and Jeff Rabalais; two sisters, Rhonda Kimble and Della Adams.
She is survived by five sons, Wayne, Terry, Johnny, Bobby and Roy Jeansonne; all of Simmesport; eight daughters, Pat Adams of Maurepas; Delores Adams, Mickey Kimble, Gail Firmin, Brenda Riche of Simmesport, Norma Gautreaux of Delcambre, Linda Goodwin of Quitman, Arkansas, and Stephanie Soileau of Moss Point, Mississippi; 32 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister Kat Clark; and brother Edward Rabalais.
Pallbearers were Roy Jeansonne, Timothy Laborde, Brian Kimble, Beau and Glynn Firmin, Jr., Kenny Riche, Jr., John Goodwin, Jr. and Wayne Jeansonne.
Honorary pallbearers were J.R. Jeansonne, Jacob Lemoine, Sheldon Jeansonne, Richard Adams, Jr. and Zachary Jeansonne.
Crossbearer was Dayton Laborde; altar services were performed by Dustin Firmin and Patrick Riche.
