Death recently in Brillion of 38-year old Joseph A. Miller.
Mr. Miller was born in Town Maple Grove in Manitowoc County and was raised there.
For many years he worked as a teacher in our county and was one of the founders of the Manitowoc County Teachers' Association. In 1904 he ran unsuccessfully on the
Democratic Party ticket for the office of County Clerk. Later he was active in a Brillion business handling farm machinery. He was unmarried and is survived by his father and 3 brothers.

Jos. A. Miller, One of Organizers of Teachers' Assoc., Is Dead.
Joseph A Miller, for years one of the best known country school teachers of
Manitowoc county and one of the founders of County Teacher's Association, died
suddenly at Brillion where he has made his home lately. Aged 38. Mr. Miller,
unmarried, is survived by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. After
retiring from teaching in the country, Mr. Miller located at Kasson where he
was associated with Jos. Kleiber in conducitng a farm machinery sales house and
a few years ago he engage in the same business at Brillion. Mr. Miller was one
of the first officers of the County Teachers' Association when it was organized
fourteen years ago and was identified with the work of the society for years.

Joseph A. Miller, the democratic nominee for the office of county clerk,
is a native of Maple Grove, where he was born on a farm, Dec. 1, 1871.
He prepared himself for the teacher's calling, secured a first grade
county certificate, and taught school successfully in this county for
twelve years. Two years ago he served as town clerk of Maple Grove. A
year ago he quit teaching and entered into a partnership with Mr. Kleiber
at Kasson, town of Maple Grove, under the firm name of Kleiber & Miller.
The firm is dealing in farm machinery. Mr. Miller is thoroughly competent
for the efficient discharge of the duties of the office; and, if elected,
will acquit himself creditably.
