Janie Lou Fonda Brasher, 83, of Southside Ave., Campbellsville, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at her home. Daughter of the late Anthony C. Fonda and Winnie Tatum Fonda, she was born in Charleston, Miss., on Aug. 25, 1915, and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church. Brasher was a leader in organizing a Women's Missionary Union group in Tunica, Miss. She jointly taught intermediate Baptist Training Union in the 50s and 60s with her husband and in later years they led the outreach ministry for shut-ins. She was a charter member of the Busy Bloomers Garden Club and an avid and expert gardener. She was married to Hugh Rayford Brasher Sr. on July 31, 1938, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1995. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Russell Romine of Frankfort, Ky., Bonnie and Robert Hain of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Judy and Richard Willis of Simpsonville, S.C.; six granddaughters and two grandsons, Fonda R. McWilliams, Melissa R. Tate, and Russell L. Romine of Frankfort, Ky., Jennifer R. Chandler of Versailles, Ky., Sarah Aaron-Bromley of Stamford, Conn., Whitney J. Willis of Boone, N.C., and Catherine Shea Willis and Richard Allen Willis of Simpsonville, S.C. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Jane Ellen McWilliams, Samuel M. McWilliams, and Hugh T. Romine of Frankfort, Ky., Lucie Brasher Chandler, Albert B. Chandler, and Russell Braham Chandler of Versailles, Ky., and Emma Jane Aaron-Bromley of Stamford, Conn.; and one sister, Freda F. Robuck of Memphis, Tenn. She was also preceded in death by one son, Hugh Rayford Brasher Jr. on Aug. 29, 1959. Funeral was at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 16 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Dr. J. Chester Badgett and Dr. James Jones. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Russell Lee Romine, Richard Allen Willis, James McWilliams, James Tate, Ben Chandler, and Michael Bromley.
