J. A. FOWLER DEAD
PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING AT FAMILY RESIDENCE.
He Had Been a Resident of This City Since 1904 and Was a Native of State of Kansas.
J. A. Fowler; aged 64 years, 2 months and 11 days, died at the family home, 401 South First street, this morning at 3:20 o'clock following an illness of over eight months of Bright's disease. Mr. Fowler had been bedfast since November 11, 1919, and had suffered very much.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna M. Fowler; five children, Erma and Billie, home address; Mrs. Effie Mathers, Mrs. Joe Norris and Luther Fowler, all of this city, and Mrs. Clyde Uhl of Bartlesville; one sister, Mrs. W. H. Stack of Emporia, and five brothers,, Eli, Ruffin and Dorris of Emporia, Allison of this city and Irnton of Nevada, Mo.
Mr. Fowler was born in Emporia in 1856 and lived there until 1904, when he came to this city. He at once began working at the Standard Asphalt and Refining where he was employed until his last illness.
Mr. Fowler during his residence here had always maintained a high standard as a citizen and faithfully performed all his duties. In his family relations and in his relations to the community and his neighbors and friends he was steadfast and honorable. He was a member of the Eagles lodge and was held in the highest esteem by his fellow members and by all his acquaintances and neighbors.
The funeral will be held from the family residence Monday morning July 26, at 10 o'clock. The services will be in charge of Rev. Harry Gordon of the First Methodist church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
