Obituary: Semi-Weekly Iowegian, Centerville, Iowa, Tuesday, July 20, 1915, Eli Farnsworth Dead, Prominent Caldwell township Man Died Saturday Morning

-Eli Farnsworth, well known Caldwell township resident for many years died Saturday morning after being in poor health for some time. His wife, also in poor health, and two daughters survive, Mrs Hiram Huston, of Centerville, and Mrs Montague, living at home, also a son, Walden. Two brothers and a sister survive, Will of Centerville, John of Unionville, Mo, and Mrs Putnam of Exline. He was an old soldier, a G A R member, and a Mason, and was about 70 years old. The funeral was Sunday afternoon at the Exline Christian church.

-Eli Farnsworth, one of the old and well known citizens of Caldwell township died at his home in Exline Saturday morning July 17 after an illness of several months with cancer of the stomach. Mr Farnsworth was born in Monroe county, Ohio, June 26, 1845 and was 70 years and 21 days of age at the time of his death.

He came to Appanoose county when a boy with his parents, settling near the present location of Exline and soon after the outbreak of the Civil War enlisted in the Eighth IA Cavalry and served to the end of the war, four months of which time was spent in Andersonville prison.

-On August 13, 1868 he was married to Katura J Cline and to this union were born six children, three of whom died in early life, they were Norma, Lizzie and Donnie, the surviving children are Mrs Edith Huston of Centerville, Mrs Alma Monteith of Exline and Walden P who lives on the farm south of here.
