In Holden, May 21, Mrs Eliza, widow of the late Moses Thurston, aged 72 yrs, 2 mos.

Her parents were Nathan and Hannah (Cheney) Chaffin. She had several brothers and sisters: Nathan, Jr. (Sally Larkin), Hannah (Gabriel Furman Wheeler), Simon, Lucy (Charles Pierce), David (twin), (Sibil Wheeler) and Jonathan (twin),(Roxy D. Turner) Seraphina (Archibald Crossett), Clarisa (unmarried) and Joseph Cheney Chaffin (1st, Betsy F. Newton and 2nd, Delphene Pyron). Eliza was a lifelong resident of Holden and many of her neighbors were her own family.

She married Lyman Flagg, a commisioned Captain in the militia, son of Silas and Sally (Winch) on 31 Dec 1829 and four daughters were born to this union: Clarissa C. (Charles F. Damon), Sabrina, Lucy French (George Partridge) and Sarah (Norton F. Thomas) Flagg. Lyman Flagg died on 11 Mar 1836 in Holden.

She married Moses Thurston on 16 Mar 1841 and they had six children. Their sons: Lyman Flagg, George Washington, Alvin Eugene and James Tottingham Thurston (b. 10 Aug 1848 and d. unknown). Their daughters: Matilda Bolton (Thurston) St. George and Mary Freelove Thurston.
