Dies at 77; Rites
Slated Thursday
ARNAUDVILLE---Joseph Edgar Smith, 77, died at 6:25 p.m. yesterday at a Lafayette hospital.
The body is resting at E. D. Melancon Funeral Home here until Thursday at 9 a. m. when services will be read at St. Francis Regis Catholic church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Smith is survived by five sons, John, Henry, Albert and Lucius Smith all of Arnaudville, Warrington Smith of Fort Worth, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Numa Lavergne of Opelousas and Mrs. L. Guidry of Baton Rouge.
Also surviving are one brother and one sister, F. R. Smith and Mrs. E. A. Bernard, both of Arnaudville; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
