Virginia Bruce Dies After Hospital Stay
Mrs. Virginia Josephine Bruce, 48, 814 E. 34th, died Friday in a Topeka hospital where she had been readmitted August 16. She had been a hospital patient from August 2-15. She had cancer.
She was born August 14, 1920, in Topeka, and spent all but 15 years of her life in Topeka. She was a graduate of Meriden High School and attended Calvary Bible College at Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Bruce was a member of Topeka Bible Church and the auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Bruce, at home; a daughter, Ruth Charlene Bruce, at home; her mother, Mrs. Edith Bell Baker, 1505 Campbell; four sisters, Mrs. Betty DeWitt, 616 E. 34th, Mrs. Margaret Riddle, 3311 Pennsylvania, Mrs. Dorothy Chacey, Overland Park, and Mrs. June Thorp, 739 Garfield; and two brothers, Lawrence Baker, 1837 W. 2nd, and Harold Baker, LaGrande, Ore.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Topeka Bible Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Topeka Bible Church Memorial Fund. Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
