Lenora Rosalie (Peiffer) Shatzer, 92, of Quincy PA and formerly of Hagerstown, MD, was escorted to her heavenly home at 5:48 A.M Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Colestock Health Center in Quincy Village, Quincy, PA where she had been a resident since May 2011.

She was born on January 26, 1920 in Waynesboro, PA; she was the daughter of the late Aaron G. Peiffer and Ruth M. (Sprenkle) Peiffer.

Lenora was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Herbert McAlister Shatzer in April of 1998. They were married on February 20, 1937 in Martinsburg, WV. She and her husband resided in Hagerstown, MD from January 1967 until May of last year.

Lenora was a homemaker, talented artist, master gardener, baker and chef extraordinaire. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Lenora is survived by a son, Jack B. (wife Mildred) Shatzer of Mechanicsburg, PA, two daughters, Christine A (husband Gary) Stoner of Siddonsburg, PA and Wendy B. Staley of Maugansville, MD. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly L. Benedict of Waynesboro, PA and a son-in-law, K.Todd Staley of Hagerstown, MD.

Lenora also was blessed with four granddaughters, six grandsons, twenty one great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one great grandson.

She is survived by four sisters, Mary Jane Hoffman and Margaret "Peggy" Wagaman both of Waynesboro, Shirley Barnes of Green Village, PA, Trudy J. Moore of Springfield, VA, four brothers, Kenneth L. Peiffer, Gerald E. Peiffer both of Waynesboro, Lowell E. Peiffer of Ellsworth, MA, and Frederick D. Peiffer of Mercersburg, PA. She is also survived by seventeen nieces and seventeen nephews.

In addition to her parents, husband and daughter, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles A. Peiffer and Arthur G. Peiffer, two sisters, J. Kathryn O'Donnell and Sandra D. Huber, three half-sisters, Ruth V. Peiffer, Helen L. Minnich and M. Evelyn Shadle and three half-brothers, J. Norman Peiffer, D. Lester Peiffer, Harold R. Peiffer.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 25, 2012 in Central Presbyterian Church, 40 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA with the Rev. Dr. John F. Helgeson officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro and one hour prior to the service, Monday, in the church parlor.
