Mr. Kenneth L. Peiffer, 88, of 11616 N. Landis Avenue, Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 in his home.

Born August 10, 1926 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Aaron G. and Ruth (Sprenkle) Peiffer.

Mr. Peiffer was a graduate of Waynesboro High School and later served in the United States Army during World War II.

He and his wife, the late Mrs. Helen T. (Thompson) Peiffer, were married August 20, 1946. Mrs. Peiffer passed away
November 12, 1993. He had lived at his present residence for the past 25 years.

Mr. Peiffer was employed for Allegheny Power for 39 years, retiring in February 1989.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, The Scottish Rite, Queen City Lodge #131 AF &AM, Cumberland, MD, and was a volunteer coordinator for the Salvation Army.

Mr. Peiffer enjoyed woodworking, making clocks, golfing and yard work.

He is survived by two children, Ronald A. Peiffer and his wife, Karen of Severna Park, MD and Martha L. Owens and her husband, Bill of Belcamp, MD; three grandchildren, Ryan Drawbaugh, Jennifer Bartlebaugh and Tom Peiffer; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Peggy Wagaman of Waynesboro, Trudy Moore of Falls Church, VA, Jane Hoffman of Waynesboro and Shirley Barnes of Chambersburg, PA; two brothers, Jerry Peiffer of Waynesboro and Fred Peiffer of Mercersburg, PA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Ruth Schildt; and twelve siblings.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 26, 2014 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, in the funeral home where Masonic services will be held at 7:45 P.M.
