Leon E. Stanley, age 82, of Clare, passed away on January 12, 1995, at the Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center-Clare.
He was born on April 2, 1912, in Farwell, the son of Clair and Mable (Myers) Stanley. He married Allegra Jane Gager on August 15, 1947, in Lansing.
Mr. Stanley was the former owner-operator of the Stanley Oil Company in Clare, and served in the Army in WWII. He attended the Clare Congregational UCC Church and was a life member of the John J. Carton Masonic Lodge 436 of Harrison and the Pettit-Kapplinger VFW Post of Clare.
Surviving are his wife, Allegra Jane; one brother, Floyd Stanley of Hessel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Leon Kim Stanley in 1977; and two brothers, Leonard Stanley in 1994, and Otis Stanley.
Funeral services were held on January 16 at the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home of Clare, with Rev. Russell Stanley Jr. and Rev. Donald Roberts officiating. Burial was in Cherry Grove Cemetery at Clare. Masonic services were held on January 15 at the funeral home.
