Mrs. Laura Madge Bird, 58, of Parkersburg, died Sunday, April 6, following an illness of one year.

She was born April 10, 1910, at Eliabeth, a daughter of Mrs. Laura Nichols Copen and the late Charles Copen.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Legion of Guardsmen Auxiliary.

Survivors in addition to her mother include a daughter, Mrs. Betty Carter, Parkersburg; a son Ronald Bird, Parkersburg; two step-daughters, Mrs. Hildreth Day, Morehead, Ky., and Mrs. Juanita Mathews, Parkersburg; a step-son, Charles Bird, Vienna; three brothers, John Copen, Marietta, O., Harold Copen, Tallmadge, O.; and Vernon Copen, Parkersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Flinn, Elizabeth, and Mrs. Helen Pifer, Parkersbuerg; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Campbell Bird, in 1944, by a sister, Mrs. Pearl Copen, a month ago, and by a brother.

Requiem Mass was offered Wednesday morning at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. R.F. Weiskircher officiated, and burial was in the Bethel Cemetery on State Rt. 14 on Elizabeth Hill. Burdette and Lindsay Funeral Home of Parkersburg was in charge of the arrangements.
