Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Reedsville Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at St. John-St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reedsville. The Rev. John Wendland will officiate and burial will be in the West Side Cemetery in Reedsville.
He was born March 12, 1885, in Maple Grove, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Maertz, and April 22, 1914, married Miss Anna Brandt. He operated a farm in the town. His wife died in 1917. Active in musical circles, he was a member of the Reedsville City Band for 20 years.
Surviving are a son, Clifford on the home farm; five brothers, Albert, Louis, John and Leonard of Maple Grove and Erwin of Reedsville; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Fokett of Maple Grove and Mrs. Ernst Siebert and Mrs. John Treichel of Reedsville.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.
