George Washington Valentine was born December 28, 1829, in Washington Township, Pickaway County, Ohio, the son of Joshua and Margaret Drum Valentine. He was married 3 times. His first wife was Mary Ann Leist, daughter of David A. and Elizabeth Neff Leist, whom he married in Pickaway County on October 3, 1848. They were the parents of 7 children: Mary Ellen, Samantha, Elmira, Rosetta E., Malinda, Susan Arminda and Solomon Lindsey Valentine. Elmira, Rosetta and Malinda all died young in 1857. Mary Ann passed away on May 7, 1859, in Henry County, Ohio, and was buried in Liberty Chapel Cemetery, Liberty Township, Henry County, Ohio. George then married 2nd to Mary Jane Raker, daughter of Martin and Elizabeth Dindore Raker, whom he married in Henry County, Ohio, on November 6, 1859. They were likewise the parents of 7 children: George Otheo, Adella Jane, Margaret Eldora, Elmer Franklin, John Curtis, Leila and Ulysses Simpson Grant Valentine. Mary Jane passed away on April 13, 1873, in Fulton County, Ohio, and was buried in Raker Cemetery there in Delta. George then married 3rd to Mary Ann Clark, daughter of Ebenezer and Mary Dye Clark, whom he married on May 19, 1875, in Fulton County. They were the parents of 2 daughters: Nina Mary and Daisy Ethel Valentine. George Washington Valentine passed away on March 1, 1904, in Morenci, Lenawee County, Michigan, and was buried on the 3rd in Oak Grove Cemetery there. He was the father of 16 children.

"George Washington Valentine was born in Washington Township, Pickaway County, Ohio; in 1848, driving livestock and covered wagons, he went with his in-laws to along North Turkeyfoot Creek near Liberty Center, Henry County, Ohio; he was a private in Company D, 130th Regiment, Ohio National Guard Infantry, in 1864; in 1865, he bought 80 acres of land 3 miles east of Wauseon; in 1869, he bought 155 acres of land 4 miles west of Wauseon near Pettisville; in 1875, he added 5 acres. His house burned in 1880 and in 1882, he moved to Morenci, Michigan, where he had a 38 acre farm 3 miles east of Morenci. In 1898, he received a government pension."

He became a private in Company D, 134th Regiment of the Ohio National Guard Infantry. In 1865 bought 20 acres4 miles west of Wauseon, added 5 more acres in 1875. Lot house in 1880 fire and moved in 1882 to Moremoi, Missouri. In 1898 received government pension. Was first married to Mary Ann Leist, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Leist, after she died in 1859, he married Mary Jane Baker, daughter of Martin Baker and Elizabeth Dindore. He remarried a third time to Mary Ann Clark, daughter of Ebenezer and Mary Clark, who came from Alleghany County, Maryland, to Fulton County, Ohio."

"GEORGE W. VALENTINE, son of Joshua and Rebecca (Drum) Valentine, of Pennsylvania, was born in Pickaway County, Ohio, December 28, 1829. He has been married three times. His first wife was Mary A. Liest, who died May 7, 1857, leaving four children, Mary E., Samantha, Susan and Solomon. His second wife was Mary J. Raker, who died May 13, 1872, leaving seven children, Otho, Adella, Margaret E., Elmore, John, Lela, and Ulysses S. G. Mr. Valentine was married a third time, May 19, 1875, to Mary A., daughter of Ebenezer and Mary Clark, born in Fulton County, April 24, 1853. Mr. Valentine enlisted in the Union army, in May 1864, in Company D., 130th Regiment, O.V.I., and served until close of the war. He settled in Fulton County in 1865. Post-office, Wauseon. Business, farmer, section 30."
