-Jim Farnsworth, widely known Appanoose county coal miner, died suddenly of heart failure at his home on the Elmer Condra place southwest of Numa early today. Mr Farnsworth was preparing to go to work and had donned his pit clothes when he fell, a victim of heart failure. For the past six years he had worked at the No 1 old Sunshine mine, of the Sunshine Coal Company. However, prior to that time he had worked in and about the mines of this county for many years. He was a widely known character and often played fiddle at local dances and other gatherings. Because of a difficulty in his speech he was sometimes called "Stuttering Jim" however, he was kindly and always ready to discuss the subjects of the day, his interest in everything going on about him, marking him as a character and out of the ordinary. He had a wide circle of friends and his death comes as a shock and sorrow to those who knew him There are seven children surviving, who are: Mrs Earl Fry, of this city; Lois Farnsworth of Ramona, Kansas; Roy, of Davenport; Mrs Adrienne Carter of Des Moines, Juanita and Bobby at home. One child Mrs Lucille Cisler, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be announced later, together with obituary.
