Funeral Service Held for Amos Brill at Geyser Yesterday
The Geyser community was greatly shocked and grieved at the sudden passing of Amos Brill who died in a Great Falls hospital Monday at 1:15 p.m. Mr. Brill, attired in his night clothes, poured oil in the stove when he attempted to kindle the fire early Saturday morning at his ranch home east of Geyser. It is supposed there was an explosion for both Mr. Brill and the house were a mass of flames in a few seconds. The house burned to the ground, the family escaping in their night clothes, their personal belongings burning with the house. Mr. Brill was immediately taken to the hospital but the burns proved fatal.
Mr. Brill was born in Geil, Wisconsin, and was one of 17 children, 10 are still living, among the sisters is Mrs. Peter Petesch, Geyser. He was 55 years of age.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Catherine Brill, he is survived by four daughters, Janet, Virginia, Loretta and Callista, and one son, Jerome.
The family came to Geyser 22 years ago and have made their home on the ranch east of Geyser all this time.
No words can express the sorrow that this fatal accident has caused his many relatives and hosts of old friends. Mr. Brill was a man of sterling character and a splendid father and neighbor and his sudden passing is mourned by his friends as well as relatives.
Services were held Wednesday morning at the Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. Finucane officiating. Burial was in Geyser cemetery beside a small daughter who died several years ago. Sincere sympathy is extended to Mrs. Brill and family.
