From the paper in Kiel, Manitowac County, Wisconsin:
Joseph Brill - 75 of Modesto, California, former resident visiting relatives here for the past five weeks, died suddently at 12:30 o'clock this morning at the home of his sister Mrs. Nicholas Rach, Chicago Street. He was born August 15, 1864 in the town of New Holstein, son of William and Katherine (George) Brill. His wife, the former Jennie La Croix, died two years ago and a child preceded him in death. After residing in Kiel and the vicinity a number of years, he moved to Modesto in 1920 and had lived there since. Survivors are four daughters and one son: Mrs. Harvey Arrie, Mrs. Ella Rettig, and Roman Brill, Modesto California, Mrs. Charles Leonard of Austin, Texas, and Mrs. Leona Wright of Los Angeles, California; two sisters Mrs. Rach and Mrs. Ida George of Petesch, Montana, and three brothers: Theodore of Kiel, George in the town of Meeme, and Otto of Calumet. The body can be viewed at the Meiselwitz funeral home 4 - 6:30 pm today. At 7 pm it will be shipped to Modesto for burial later this week."
