He was born Dec. 15, 1892, in Bassett, Neb., to Charles and Dollie (Watson) Lee. He attended school in Herman. On March 19, 1916, he married Frieda Margaret Riem at Breckenridge. He and his wife began farming near Breckenridge before traveling to Canada to drive horses for a veterinarian for two years.

After the bank went bankrupt and closed out their loan, Mr. Lee worked for the WPA for a few years before returning to farm work at Iona. He moved to Worthington to work at the turkey-processing plant and then to Parkers Prairie, where he rented a farm for a year. He then moved to Eagle Bend to a farm he bought. He lived there for 20 years.

He moved to a farm near Browerville before moving to the Riverview Apartments in 1983. He lived at nursing homes in Clarkfield, Tracy and Marshall before his death.

Survivors include daughters, Fern Harpested of Blue Earth, Ester (Mrs. Geo) Beeler of California and Mrs. Henry Roberts of Marshall; sons Sylvester, Vernon, Elmer and Merle, all of Marshall, Kenneth and Lyle, both of Balaton and Edmund of Montana; and 26 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, one brother and one daughter.
