Lyle was born on a farm near Wanda the son of Henry & Frieda Riem Lee. He grew up on the farm and attended country school. On November 28, 1944 Lyle enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge on July 13, 1946 he returned to Murray County. On November 10, 1947 he and Betty Ann Holm were married at her parents farm near Slayton. Following their marriage they farmed and Lyle also worked for the Louis Beal Grain Belt Distributing Company in Slayton. In 1950 they moved to Walnut Grove and Lyle worked as a hired man for a short time before moving to Tracy, MN. While in Tracy Lyle worked for the Devetter Ice Company. In 1953 they moved to Marshall, MN and Lyle worked for the Perfection Ice Cream Company. In 1958 they moved to Balaton, MN and Lyle worked at the Balaton School as a janitor and later for the City of Balaton. He also helped farmers. In 1991 they retired and moved to Slayton and Lyle continued helping area farmers. Lyle became a resident of Our House Hospice Home in Slayton on February 2.
Lyle was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Lyle enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, wood-working, hunting, fishing, and camping.
Lyle & Betty were the parents of Barbara Kalas & Lynda Cowell.
Lyle's siblings include Merl Lee, Edmund Lee, Sylvester Lee, Vernon Lee, Kenneth Lee, Elmer Lee, Fern Harpestad, & Beverly Canterbury.
Funeral services were held from Christ Lutheran Church, Rev. Craig Nissen officiating.
