He was born to Lafayette and Birtha Frances Brittle Brown on April 17, 1900, in Memphis, Mo. He married Wilma Bauer in Mason City. She preceded him in death in 1930.
Survivors include two sons, Russell Bauer of Ottumwa, Ia., and Robert Bauer of Ankeny, Ia.; one brother, Alfred Brown of Gorin, Mo.; and two sisters, Frances Henry and Daisy Clark, both of Memphis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Graveside services were held August 23, 1989, at Mt. Ararat Cemetery, east of Centerville.
