Funeral services for Raymond T. "Salty" Brown, 65, of Baring, Missouri, were held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, September 11, 1985, in Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel, Edina, Missouri. The Rev. Archie Cooper of Kirksville conducted the services. The musical selection was "One Day At A Time." Burial was in the Slocum Cemetery west of Greensburg with military rites at the graveside.
Mr. Brown died at 12:28 Monday morning, September 9, 1985, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
The son of Lafayette and Bertha Frances Brown, he was born January 3, 1920, in Knox County, he was never married.
Surviving are four brothers, Alfred Brown of Gorin, Missouri, Dave Brown of Baring, Missouri, Carl Brown of Centerville, Iowa, and Isaac Brown of San Bernardino, California, and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Frances) Henry of Memphis, Missouri, and Mrs. Herschel (Daisy) Clark of Memphis, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Rowlison and Dona Davis and one brother, Ellis Brown.
Mr. Brown was a life-long resident of the Baring community and had been employed with the Knox County Maintenance Department.
During World War II, Mr. Brown served with the United States Army, 29th Division of the Infantry. During his military career he received the Purple Heart in the European theater.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial V.F.W. Post No. 4958 of Memphis.
Bearers were Ernest Moore, Gale Barker, Robert Quigley, Jon Kaduce, Jeff Kaduce and Rodney Thomas.
