Anna Sophia Kahle was born October 8, 1861 at Dwight, Illinois, the daughter of George Krug and his wife, Barbara. In 1873 she came to Nebraska with her parents and settled southeast of Crete in the Kramer vicinity.

On the eleventh of November 1883 she entered holy matrimony with Henry Kahle, with whom she spent fifty-one years of happy and blessed married life. This union was blessed with seven children, four daughters and three sons. One daughter, Marie, and one son, Herman, preceded the father in death.

The deceased spent the entire seventy-two years of her life in Nebraska in the Crete vicinity. In 1888 the family moved to the West Blue community where they resided until 1909 when they moved to a farm west of Crete. In 1916 Mr. Kahle retired from the farm and moved to Crete. Mr. and Mrs. Kahle observed their golden wedding anniversary on November 11, 1933. Mr. Kahle died on December 26, 1934.

On recent years Mrs. Kahle's health began to fail, and she lived with her daughter, Anna, in Deshler. She returned to Crete in late spring and soon afterwards was taken to the Friend hospital where she passed away October 3 after a long and severe sickness. She attained the age of 83 years and is survived by her children: Anna Schubert, Deshler; Christina Paugh, Pueblo, Colorado; Louise Schubert, Wilcox; and Arthur of Falls City; one sister, Mrs. Kistinger of Crete, eighteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon from the Lutheran church of which she had been a member nearly forty years. Interment was in Crete Riverside Cemetery.
