He had been in failing health for three years but remained active until entering Community Hospital January 28, 1967. On February 1 he was transferred to St. Mary's Hospital and underwent major surgery there on February 8.
Mr. Kahle was born September 29, 1901, near Crete. He moved here from Crete when he entered the employment of the Missouri Pacific Railroad until his retirement March 12, 1965. He was a conductor when he retired.
On October 1, 1942 he was married to the former Rhoba Parrack at Hiawatha.
Mr. Kahle was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church six miles north of Falls City and of the Lutheran Laymen's League of the church.
Besides his widow, Mr. Kahle is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Schubert, Deshler and Mrs. Ernest Schubert, Holdrege; a brother, August Kahle, Crete and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Kahle will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, six miles north of Falls City, conducted by the Rev. Hans O. Carlson. Burial will be in Steele Cemetery.
The body of Mr. Kahle was brought here overland by Dorr-Philpot and Reavis-Macomber to their funeral home and from 1 o'clock on Thursday will lie in state at the church until the funeral hour.
