In 1869 young Caroline(Stephan)Stephens found herself now living some miles away from her family with her Aunt Katherine Munday in Jackson Twp. Her father Adam Stephan - a shoemaker in Hollidaysburg some 20 miles distant suffered a stroke and most of the 6 children in the family were farmed out to relatives. Caroline named after her mother lived all her life with the Munday 'Monday' Family and eventually ended up with her Cousin Fanny Munday King in her later years. They both lived together in Jackson Twp, Cambria Co as of 1930. On Apr 27th Caroline passed 0n just 2 days after the 1930 Census taker came by. Her cousin Fanny King, now a widow passed away just 1 year later & they are buried near each other here in St Pauls Cemetery. Caroline had extended family all thru-out the nearby counties. Her Mother Caroline is buried nearby in Lloyds Cemetery along with her brother Christopher. Her 0lder brother Joseph b1858 is this writers grandfather and migrated on to Montana in the 1880's where my father Joseph was born in 1905. She may have lived an uneventful life but is certainly not forgotten, and will live on forever via this memorial to her.
