Elizabeth F 'Stephan' Stephens was born on April 2, 1856 in Londonderry, Bedford Co Pennsylvania according to the Church Record. Her father Adam Stephan was born in Hessen,Germany in 1813 so he was 42 and her mother Caroline Potter Stephens was 35. She married James Q. Whartenby in 1871 at the tender age of 15 and they had nine children together. James being much older died in 1896. She then married William S. Rheppard and they had one child George in 1899.(George was killed in an accident with a Train in 1928) Her 1st born son Edwin Whartenby died in 1928 also. She passed away on December 26, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 69. I thought how fortunate she did not know about the early deaths of two of her sons. Her 2nd Husband William Rheppard lived on until about 1950. Life must have been lonely for him without both his beloved Wife & his son, though he apparently re-married sometime prior to his death in 1950. There is no Individual Headstone for Elizabeth in the Family Plot.
