Question: Could the middle initial C. stand for Call, the maiden name of his grandmother, Eunice (Call) Nims?

In 1848 his parents moved to Portage Prairie, Columbia County, Wisconsin. His father then left the nine children born of his father, Alpheus John Nims, and his mother Almena Randall, she was the daughter of Reuben Randall and Deborah Moshier (burial place unknown.) Almena's will was probated 27 Oct 1879, Manistee, MI.
His father married, 2nd Melvina Millard after 1849.

The 1890 Veterans Schedule, 1910 Census, and marriage record to Mary Fredericks, all read Julius C.; his death certificate reads Julius D.
