PIONEER WOMAN DEAD
Mrs. Harriet Johnson is Laid to Rest at Sumas.

SUMAS, June 10.--At the age of 57 years, Mrs. Harriet Johnson, a pioneer of Sumas, passed away Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. Charlton, after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held this afternoon, Rev. Shattuck, of Nooksack, officiating and interment was made at the Odd Fellows' cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Iowa in 1864 and came to Sumas thirty-seven years ago. Her husband, Robert Johnson, who came to the state in the early forties, passed away here fourteen years ago.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by three sons, Elmer Johnson, of Los Angeles, Ca.; Archie and Robert, a stepson, of Sumas; two daughters, Mrs. R. J. Love, of Vancouver, B.C. and Mrs. E. Charlton, of Sumas; three sisters, Mrs. Kirkman and Mrs. Harvey Johnson, of Pasco, Wash., and Mrs. M. E. McCallister, of Seattle; three brothers, A. W. Nims, Vancouver, B.C.; W. E. Nims, and L. V. Nims, of Bellingham.
