Murray Curtis Valentine was born March 19, 1883, in Liberty District, Frederick County, Maryland, the son of Albert Curtis and Lavinia Agnes Eyler Valentine. On November 6, 1907, in York, York County, Pennsylvania, he married Myrtle May Measell, also of Frederick County, daughter of Franklin Pierce and Leathea Sellerna Measell. They were the parents of one son: Robert L. Valentine. Murray passed away February 25, 1947, in York, York County, Pennsylvania, and was buried in Greenmount Cemetery there.

He was medium in height and build, with brown eyes and hair.
